2 December 2022
2022 Civil Engineering Board Exam Passers

Are you one of the civil engineering board exam passers? Then, you may have what Lumina Homes is looking for.

In November 2022, only 8, 029 out of 20, 407 examinees successfully passed the Civil Engineer Licensure Examination (CELE). It was conducted in different testing centers nationwide, including the National Capital Region (NCR), Cebu, Davao, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Tuguegarao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Pampanga, Lucena, Pagadian, Zamboanga, Koronadal, Tacloban, and Rosales.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), the recent civil engineer exam results are relatively lower than the May 2022 passing rate of 3.01 percent. However, this is still good news since the country is in the process of pandemic recovery. Despite the limited classes and review center operations, there’s a huge turnout of board exam passers.

5 Successful Tips to Nail Your First Career Job Interview

Now that you’re a licensed civil engineer, you’ll also start building your career. But landing a job with the right company requires techniques and skills, especially if it’s your first time. So, if you want to ace your first job interview, here are the five (5) successful tips you can follow.

1. Identify and research your preferred company.

What type of industry do you wish to work for? As a civil engineer, you have vast opportunities in different sectors. Do you want to be a public government worker or be part of a real estate investment sector that builds house and lot in the Philippines? You must be familiar with the company you wish to work for, and it must be aligned with your interests and knowledge. Therefore, make a quick background check first before going to a battle.

2. Be well-prepared and practice common interview questions.

Being good with engineering mechanics and an expert in geotechnical engineering is not enough to impress an interviewer. You must be quick-witted and confident to answer the questions on point and compelling. Thus, you must practice answering common questions by seeking help from a family member or a friend. This can make you relax and calm.

3. Be careful with your body language.

You must be wary of your body language. The way you carry yourself will be noticed during the interview. So, maintain a proper posture and make eye contact with the job interviewer. Whether it is a face-to-face or online interview, make sure you smile and avoid inappropriate body gestures.

4. Answer questions truthfully.

Be sincere and answer the questions to the best of your ability. If you don’t know or understand the question, take a deep breath, pause and tell them honestly. Remember, there is no perfect answer during the interview. But, it is a crucial process to determine your personality and potential.

5. Ask the interviewer a few questions.

A job interview is not all about an interviewer asking the applicant. Sometimes they may find you interesting if you ask some questions to them. It’s an indication that you are interested to know the company. So, make sure you prepare some good questions and ask them after the end of the interview.
