Are Pets Allowed in LRT this 2023?
4 February 2023Only a pet owner understands how to treat animals as family members, whether they are dogs or cats. Pet owners consider these fur babies to be their best friends or even babies; and when a man is home alone, these pets usually turn out to be their companions as well. Pets are more mindful of human feelings. They can immediately sense when we are miserable, blissful, or furious than any other individuals, and they give truly necessary comfort. Also, most of them can do simple errands as well. Only fur parents comprehend and communicate the exceptional job that pets play in a man's life.
As part of the household, fur parents give them their basic requirements, such as a place to live in, food, clothing, and care. They are also given proper medical attention when they become ill, and they occasionally receive special treats for performing tricks or doing errands. Hence, welcoming newcomers to the family entails a great deal of responsibility.
Considering the love and sacrifices of fur parents for their fur babies, it's undeniable that leaving them all alone in the house to gimmick with friends or do some errands is a struggle. Pet owners are consistently worrying about how their pets are doing; hence, they may be physically present but mentally absent on some occasions. This is a real challenge, especially since there are still transportation facilities and establishments in the country that do not allow pets in. The Light Rail Transit Authority, however, has good news for all pet owners!
Pets Are Now Allowed on LRT2
Today, your pets can now travel with you on Light Rail Transit Line 2. You can finally bring your furry friends with you on LRT 2 trains, free of charge! The LRTA management announced on their social media that beginning February 1, 2023. pets will be allowed to ride the train provided fur parents adhere to the usual guidelines and pet friendly policy of the organization to prevent operational problems.
As LRTA drives inclusivity in permitting pets to join their owners in their daily transport, the organization is still firm in maintaining peace and order inside the stations and trains. Hence, they set rules and guidelines that will be strictly implemented by security personnel. We listed here the policies you need to observe, so you and your fur baby are good to go:
Only one small pet (dog or cat) is allowed to travel per passenger on the train for free.
You must keep your pet should inside an enclosed carrier or cage (allowable size: not exceeding 2ft. x 2ft.). Anyone considering traveling with their leashed dog should be aware that all animals must be confined in cages both inside the train and at the station.
You must occupy an extra seat inside the train for your pet's carrier or cage. The carrier can either be placed on the passenger's lap or their feet on the floor. Strollers for pets will not be allowed.
All pets entering the stations or trains must be wearing diapers to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
Pets must be fully vaccinated. Owners must present the vaccination card upon inspection.
Passengers carrying their pets shall only be allowed to light/board at the last/end coach of the train.
Feeding the pet while inside the station/train is not allowed.
Light Rail Transit Authority - LRTA may, at its sole judgment, forbid to transport pets that appear to be undisciplined, unmanageable, aggressive, and distressed. The management may also prohibit the transport of pets that pose a threat to the health or safety of other passengers. In such circumstances, the LRT-2 personnel may require the passenger/pet owner to alight/exit the station.
The passenger-pet owner shall be solely accountable for any injury and/or damage that may be caused by/to the pet.
LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera has strongly advised that all pets brought into the station should be kept in cages. Hence, owners of large pets should also think twice before bringing them. Mr. Cabrera added that it would be difficult to transport large pets on the train as it tends to be crowded.
The LRTA will issue additional guidelines as it prepares its trains and stations to be more pet friendly. LRTA will also coordinate with the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT 1) to pursue the same policy, following the lead of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3), which has allowed certain pets to onboard their trains since July 2022.
Finding pet friendly establishments and community is one of the difficulties that pet owners face today. There is still a large number of landlords, establishments, and communities that prohibit pets—especially dogs—from entering their properties.
