Key Differences Between Autosweep and Easytrip RFID

Wondering which RFID stickers to use when traveling outside Metro Manila

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) stickers have revolutionized toll payment systems in the Philippines. It provides cashless and seamless transactions at toll gates, eliminating the need for long lines and exact change.

Two of the country's most widely used RFID systems are Autosweep and Easytrip RFID. Both systems are operated by different corporations and offer similar benefits, but there are key differences between them that motorists should be aware of.

Remember that you’ll use them more often if you have a house and lot in the Philippines, especially outside Metro Manila.

What is Autosweep RFID?

Autosweep RFID is owned and operated by San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Tollways. It is used in major expressways in the Philippines, including South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, STAR Tollway, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX). Autosweep RFID uses RFID readers installed at toll plazas that communicate with RFID stickers mounted on the front license plate of the vehicle.

Where to get Autosweep RFID?

Autosweep RFID stickers can be obtained from Autosweep stations, customer service centers, online, and through their reloading partners. To enroll in the Autosweep system, you must provide your vehicle registration papers, valid IDs and fill out an application form.

How to pay and check Autosweep RFID balance?

Payment for the Autosweep RFID sticker and initial load is required to activate. The balance can be reloaded through various channels, including online banking, over-the-counter transactions at select banks, and Autosweep top-up stations.

To check the Autosweep RFID balance, you can use the Autosweep website, mobile app, or customer service hotlines. The Autosweep RFID account number and card number can be found on the RFID sticker itself. You can enroll multiple vehicles under one Autosweep account as long as the vehicles are registered under the same name. Plus, you are also entitled to discounts and rebates, depending on their usage.

What is Easytrip RFID?

Easytrip RFID is owned and operated by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC). It is currently used in major expressways in the Philippines, including the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), and the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX). Easytrip RFID uses radio receivers installed at toll plazas that communicate with RFID stickers mounted on the front license plate of the vehicle.

Where to get Easytrip RFID?

Easytrip RFID stickers can be obtained from Easytrip stations, customer service centers, online, and through their reloading partners. As a motorist, you need to provide your vehicle registration papers, valid IDs and fill out an application form to enroll in the Easytrip system.

5 Differences between Autosweep and Easytrip RFID

While Autosweep RFID is owned and operated by San Miguel Corporation Tollways, Easytrip RFID is owned and operated by Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. Other key differences are the following:

Availability

Autosweep RFID is currently available on SMC-operated tollways such as the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), while Easytrip RFID is used on the NLEX, SCTEX, CAVITEX, C5 Link, CALAX, and the Harbor Link.

Furthermore, Autosweep RFID stations are available 24/7, while Easytrip stations have varying operating hours depending on the location.

RFID Sticker Placement

Autosweep RFID stickers are typically placed on the vehicle’s windshield, on the driver’s side. On the other hand, Easytrip RFID stickers can be placed either on the windshield or the front license plate.

In addition, Autosweep RFID can be used on vehicles with medium-tinted windshields, while Easytrip RFID may not work properly on vehicles with heavily tinted windshields.

Compatibility

Autosweep RFID uses a 10-digit Autosweep account number, while Easytrip account number uses a 12-digit card. Therefore, Autosweep RFID stickers are not compatible with Easytrip RFID readers, and vice versa.

Reload Partners

Autosweep RFID can be reloaded at any Autosweep RFID station, while Easytrip RFID can be reloaded at Easytrip reloading partners such as 7-Eleven, SM Business Centers, and Union Bank branches.

Autosweep RFID also uses an e-wallet system called Autosweep Easytrip e-wallet, while Easytrip RFID uses the MyEasytrip web and mobile app.

Annual Fees

Autosweep RFID has an annual fee of Php 200, while Easytrip RFID has a lower annual fee of Php 100.
