This was Gabriela David’s thought when she left the nunnery and took in her sister’s daughter to be her own. “Birthday gift siya sa akin ni God nung time na ‘yon. Wala pa siyang one-month-old noon,” she narrates.

She raised her adopted daughter through her income from her sari-sari store and home-baked services. Her daughter, now 27, has a son who Aling Gabriela also loves and takes care of. Right now, they live together in her sister’s house.

Aling Gabriela, 64, is the first winner of a Lumina affordable house and lot on Eat Bulaga’s popular Juan for All, All for Juan segment. She was selected via raffle from all of the Sugod Bahay winners in July 2014.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa Eat Bulaga at sa Lumina Homes dahil magkakaroon na ako ng sariling bahay. Pinag-pray ko talaga ‘to kasi itong bahay namin ay sa kapatid ko,” Aling Gabriela narrates.
