Brigada Eskwela of Department of Education will run from May 28 to June 2, 2018, anchored with the theme "Pagkakaisa Para sa Handa, Ligtas at Matatag na Paaralan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan."

Brigada Eskwela is a campaign platform that encourages stakeholders to engage in the activities done during the Public Schools Maintenance Week nationwide. Brigada Eskwela's activities aim to improve public school facilities preparing for the school year 2018-2019 that will start this June.

Through Republic Act 8525 or the Adopt-A-School Program implemented in 1998, DepEd launched the first Brigada Eskwela in May 2003. It was called Brigada, or brigade in English, to promote and practice shared governance. It also aims to bring the spirit of education to the community level and utilize the local resources to improve public schools' conditions.

What to donate for Brigada Eskwela?

Different individuals, organizations, and companies were invited and encouraged to donate materials and equipment to improve the school facility. Some of the suggested in-kind donations are:

What can volunteers do in Brigada Eskwela?

Volunteers can help with manual labor such as repaint, clean, and repair.
Repaint of common areas in school like clinic, canteen walls, and school fence.
Cleaning of school areas like classroom windows, school garden, gutters, and comfort rooms.
Repair of broken school materials or structures like roof, chairs, school signages, and water facility

Aside from joining the information dissemination Brigada Eskwela 2018 through motorcade, Lumina employees and partner networks also donated cleaning materials and cleaned and repainted within the school vicinity. Some Lumina areas also built booths to provide refreshments and snacks for their co-volunteers during this activity.
