Jose Cortes Altavas, a senator, representing the 7th district of the Philippines during the 4th Philippine Congress from 1916 to 1919, supported the secession of the former Municipality of Jimeno from the Municipality of New Washington, which was previously known as Lagatic. Ati-Atihan
