Cavite is considered the History Capital of the Philippines. But aside from their rich history and culture, Cavite is also affluent with their local delicacies and cuisines. Let's go and discover some of the must-try food in the Province of Cavite!
Tahong from Bacoor
This seafood is widely renowned in Bacoor Cavite since the main livelihood of the residents in Bacoor is fishing. It is also the major product that can be found and produced in the coastal region of Bacoor that they already made a festival out of it called as Tahong Festival. This festival is celebrated every year on September 29 by the locals, where they feature different cuisines made from their local produce mussels. You can also visit an exclusive exhibit for this main product during the festival in their town plaza.
Tinapang Salinas from Rosario
Known as Tinapang Salinas in Rosario town in Cavite, this popular Smoked Fish product has provided a slew of advantages to the inhabitants, including tourism and steady employment. In October, Rosario Cavite has its annual Tinapa Festival to promote Rosario, where the smoked fish is known as "Tinapang Salinas" originated.
Some of the places where you can buy Smoked Fish or Tinapang Salinas from Rosario Cavite are in:
- Ka Fredo’s Tinapang Salinas
- Otop Rosario Cavite Tinapang Salinas
- Joot Fu’s Tinapang Salinas
Mochi
Rice cake with sweet bean paste and sesame seed covering Buchi or Butsi is produced with sweet rice flour and then mold-formed into the desired shape. It is deep-fried before being served as an appetizer.
Buchi may be filled with a variety of different ingredients. Although ube and condensed milk mixes are also gaining popularity, sweetened red bean paste is the most prevalent. As long as the filling is to your liking, you are free to use it.
In Cavite, Buchi is more famously known as Mochi as they prefer to have it filled with monggo or the sweetened red bean paste.
Pancit Puso
Pancit puso is a Cavite-style pansit prepared with a mixture of bihon and miki bihon cooked in achuete with thinly sliced pork, green beans, carrots, and cabbage. To make a pansit puso, the dish is garnished with thin slices of banana blossoms that have been boiled in vinegar and served with the dish.
Garlic Rice
Steamed rice is fried with tons of garlic in Garlic Fried Rice (Sinangag). Due to rice's status as a staple meal in the Philippines and most of Asia, this is a popular side dish. Many fried items, such as Tocino, Longganisa, and beef tapa, may be served with cooking rice in the Philippines, which is traditionally eaten for breakfast. Also, Beef Pares would be incomplete without it.
In Cavite, this is also a favorite serving in their breakfast and other local delicacies such as tahong and tinapang Salinas. This is also a perfect match with a cup of hot chocolate and freshly brewed coffee.
Tablea from Alfonso
Speaking of hot chocolate, chocolate tablets or tablea is precisely what Spanish called because of their unique shape compared to that of tablets. Tablea Batirol is produced from the best dried local cacao beans, painstakingly roasted for many hours, then cracked using a corn mill and crushed to a rich chocolaty paste before adding sugar and molding them into tablets.
When buying an authentic tablea from Cavite, visit the Municipality of Alfonso. As early as the 1960s, the Tablea Batirol was manufacturing tablea in the town of Alfonso in the Province of Cavite. To begin with, they began out as an unnamed brand of chocolate, and it has since been handed down through the generations. On May 2, 2012, the name "Tablea Batirol" was finally created as a result of our success in the market for over six decades and our ability to keep up with demand.
Kapeng Barako from Amadeo
Another important food for many, especially during breakfast, to kick start their day is a cup of freshly brewed coffee.
Amadeo, Cavite, was previously known as the coffee center of the Philippines, notably for its production of the Robusta type of coffee. The Pahimis Blend is the name given to the mix of beans grown by the coffee farmers in Amadeo, who also cultivate the other types. The Pahimis Festival is also held in Cavite to celebrate thankfulness for the rich harvest of coffee beans.
