The color of our rooms has an impact on us every day, even though we don't give it any thought. Let's join Mr. and Mrs. Torcende, along with Mr. Joseph Delopere from Lumina Butuan, as they shared their experiences and some ideas on how they were able to choose the right color for their home.

Picking the perfect shade

Mr. and Mrs. Torcende, owners of the Aimee Rowhouse from Lumina Butuan, shared why they chose the green and a touch of blue-green color as a motif for their home interior.

“So ang favorite color ko kasi is green and blue. Actually, sa pagpili namin ng paint dito sa bahay, natagalan kami kasi ang gusto kong kulay na green ay hindi yung masyadong masakit sa mata,” Mrs. Torcende explained.

("My favorite color is clean and blue. Actually, we 

had a hard time picking the right color for our house because I really like to have that shade of green that is not too bright for the eyes," Mrs. Torcende explained.)

“So, nagpunta talaga kami kung saan-saan. Nagpa-mix kami na yung talagang makuha yung gusto ko. So, nagpa-mixing kami na gamit yung mixing machine para talagang makuha yung gusto kong kulay,” she said.

("We tried to look everywhere. We made the colors mixed using a mixing machine just for us to get the right shade that I really wanted," Mrs. Torcende explained.)

She also added that the colors of their house interior change at night due to the strip light. According to Mrs. Torcende, the green shade of their wall becomes darker while the gray ones turn into blue. She also expressed how she totally loves the color especially during the day, because it's pleasing to look at and not too warm for the eyes. She also mentioned that she prefers the pastel color and matte finish of their home interior over the bright ones.

Getting the inspiration for the interior design

Researching for the right interior design for your homes might be tricky, especially if you don't have any idea where to start looking. Going beyond your comfort zone while creating and designing may be a great source of home design inspiration. Also, getting inspired by nature, art, or by means of searching through social media posts can help you to find a newfound passion for designing your beautiful home.

Just like the process of interior design made by Mr. and Mrs. Torcende, who use the power of the internet to research the best design for their home interior.

“Bago naming pinatrabaho yung interior design ng aming unit, nag-isip muna kami kung paano idedesenyo.”

(Before we started working on the interior design of our home unit, we thought first about what kinds of design will fit best in our house and how it would look like.)

“Nag-search kami sa internet. Gusto ko lang ay simple pero modern yung design. Cozy lang, tapos di masyadong mabigat sa mata yung mga nakalagay o yung mga design. Pinag-isipan naming yung mga color combination na kahit maliit lang yung space niya, malaki sya tignan o kaya yung laki nya ay komportable at yung mga colors at mga design na pinaglalagay ay dapat bagay at hindi mabigat sa mata tingnan,” Mrs. Torcende added.

("So we searched on the internet. I want to have something simple yet modern design for our house interior. I want it to be cozy and not too heavy to look at. That's why we thought about the color combinations that can help our house to look bigger even though we have a smaller space. We also made sure that all the designs will perfectly fit with our house's schemes," Mrs. Torcende added.)

Meanwhile, Mr. Joseph Delopere, a homeowner of the Angeli Single Firewall unit from Lumina Butuan, also shared how he was able to come up with the idea for his house interior.

“Ang disenyong ito ay biglang dumating lang sa isip ko. Habang ginagawa yung bahay parang gusto ko ng ganito, so wala talaga itong plano.”

(This kind of design just popped up into my mind along the way. The designs just came up progressively while my house was being built.)

“Parang ang ginawa ko, pumunta ako sa iba’t ibang bahay at tiningnan ko yung disenyo nila. Kaya humanap ako ng isang disenyo na kakaiba sa kanila.”

(What I did was I visited different houses and checked out their interior designs. From there, I find something unique that I can incorporate in my own home.)

Kumuha kami way back 2018. Na-reward siya sa amin noong January 2020. Pagkatapos naming magpagawa ng interior, agad kaming lumipat. So, ito na siya ngayon.

(We purchased it way back in 2018, and we were able to turn it over to us in January 2020. So after we had the house renovation, we decided to move in here, which is how it looks now.)

Mr. Joseph Delopere also expressed his thoughts about choosing the Lumina Homes subdivision as a location for his new home.

“Unang-una ito ang pinili kong subdivision kasi alam kong affordable at yung location talaga niya ay napakaganda dahil kung tignan mo sa paligid, makikita natin yung malaking bukid at yung tubig talaga dito is malakas, at above sea level.”

(The primary reason I chose this subdivision is its affordability and great location as it is above sea level. If you can see, the community is surrounded by nature, and the water supply here is superb.)
