Christmas Caroling at Lumina Butuan

Lumina Homes visited some homeowners in Lumina Butuan whose loved ones are Overseas Filipino Workers. Watch the team as they did a Christmas caroling with a twist!

First stop: Melanie Maniego, wife of Jessil Anthony Maniego, OFW in Saudi Arabia

Mrs. Maniego said that they had been a part of the Lumina Butuan community for almost two years now. She also explained that her husband worked for nearly seven years in Saudi Arabia as a machine operator.

When asked why did they chose Lumina Homes as the community provider for their family, she said:

“Lumina Homes ang aming pinili ma’am kasi tahimik at safe ang aming mga anak at saka affordable para sa amin.”

(We chose Lumina Homes because of its peaceful community that makes it safe for our kids, and it's also affordable for us.)

She also shared their plans and her wish this coming Christmas.

“Plano po namin is dito lang po sa bahay. Mag salo-salo ng kaunti. Yun lang po.”

(We plan to celebrate Christmas here in our house and have a small party with my kids.)

 “Ang wish ko po ma’am na sana nandito yung asawa ko. Kumpleto ang buong pamilya namin para masaya kaming lahat sa pasko. Buo ang aming pamilya. Yun lang po.”

(My only wish is for my husband to be here at home so that our family will be complete and all of us will be happy this Christmas.)

Meanwhile, she got a bit emotional as she told us her message for her husband.

“Message ko sa’yo ‘Pa na sana nandito ka ngayong Pasko para mabuo yung pamilya natin, masaya tayo. Saka mag-iingat ka lagi diyan. Salamat sa mga sakripisyo mo para sa aming pamilya. I love you.”

(My message to you, Dad, is I wish you are here with us so that we can happily celebrate this Christmas together. Always take care of yourself there, and thank you for all your sacrifices for our family. I love you.)

Second stop: Ainiel Alburo, husband of Laarni Alburo, OFW in Dubai

Mr. Alburo said they would celebrate their second Christmas here in Lumina Butuan. He also cited that his wife is currently working in Dubai. She has been working there as an accountant for already eight years.

He said that Lumina Butuan is a perfect choice for couples who are just starting to build their own family.

“Lumina Homes kasi affordable siya. Para sa amin na mga bagong pamilya, kaya namin kasi maliit pa ipon namin kaya napili talaga namin ang Lumina Homes.”

Mr. Alburo also shared their plans and wishes for his family this coming Christmas Season.

“Ngayong Pasko, actually, hindi pa namin finalize kung ano ba ang plano namin. Kung dito ba kami sa Lumina magpa-Pasko or uuwi ako sa Las Nieves kasi nandoon ang mga kapatid ko. Yung Misis ko naman kasi hindi makakauwi dahil sa pandemic kaya siguro, baka lang doon kami sa Las Nieves.”

(Actually, we haven't yet finalized our plans this Christmas if we will celebrate it here in Lumina or go to our hometown in Las Nieves since my siblings live there. On the other hand, my wife can't make it home this year because of the pandemic. That's why we're eyeing the possibility to celebrate Christmas in Las Nieves.)

“Ang wish ko para sa aking pamilya, at siguro hindi lang para sa aking pamilya para na din sa ating lahat, na sana mawala na yung pandemic, itong COVID na ‘to para at least, balik normal na tayo sa ating pang-araw-araw na trabaho at hindi na mahirap.”

(My wish for my family and maybe, not just for them but for all of us, is that I hope that this pandemic, the COVID-19 virus, will end so that we can go back to our normal lives, our regular jobs, and to end this global crisis.)

“Para sa aking pamilya talaga ang wish ko lang sana walang magkakasakit.”

(Meanwhile, my only wish for my family is for them always to be healthy and keep themselves safe from any illness.)
