Christmas Caroling at Lumina Iloilo

Lumina Homes visited some homeowners in Lumina Iloilo whose loved ones are Overseas Filipino Workers. Watch the team as they did a Christmas caroling with a twist!

An OFW from Singapore

The staff visited and sang cheerful and warm Christmas carols to our first homeowner like Joy to the World, Jingle Bells, and Star ng Pasko. Our sprightly homeowner even sang with them during the caroling!  

According to her, they have been living in Lumina Iloilo with her children and grandchildren for four years now. She also shared the work of her daughter-in-law as an OFW.

 “Ang daughter-in-law ko ay nagtatrabaho sa Singapore. Twenty-five years na siya doon.”

(My daughter-in-law is currently working in Singapore for 25 years now.)

She also told us why did they choose the Lumina Homes community for their family.

 “Kasi mura lang at kaya ng daughter-in-law ko. At saka, malapit sa school, sa church, at saka Vista Mall.”

(The reason why we chose Lumina Homes is because of its affordable price; that’s why my daughter-in-law didn’t have a second thought to buy it. It is also near to the school, church, and the Vista Mall.)

She also stated their plans for the coming Christmas Eve celebration.

 “Dito lang kami sa bahay kasi pandemic naman. At saka kasama ko yung mga apo ko, yung mga anak ko. Magre-reunion kami dito sa bahay na lang.”

(We will spend and celebrate Christmas here in our home due to the pandemic. I will celebrate the holiday and have a reunion here at home with my children and grandchildren.)

At the last part of the interview, she also uttered a short Christmas message for her daughter-in-law, who works as an OFW in Singapore.

“Ang message ko po sa daughter-in-law ko, magpakatatag siya kasi matagal na na hindi siya nakauwi dito sa Pinas. At saka mag-pray lang siya palagi.”

(My message for my daughter-in-law is for her to remain steadfast and tough since it’s been a long time since she was able to come back home here in the Philippines. Also, I would like her to always pray for guidance and strength.)

As a sign of appreciation for welcoming us to their home, the Lumina Iloilo staff gave them a simple Christmas basket gift from Lumina Homes and wished them a Merry Christmas. They also had a quick photo opportunity from our first homeowner.

A Seafarer Story

Our Lumina Iloilo marketing team next visited and had caroling to our second homeowner, Mrs. Ma. Aiza Calicaran, wife of Mr. Judy Calicaran and asked to have an interview session with her. 

How long have you been a part of Lumina Iloilo?

“Noong 2019, nag-move-in na po kami dito so magtu-two years na po kami dito.”

(We moved here to Lumina Iloilo in the year 2019, so we’ve been part of this community for almost two years now.)

She also mentioned that her husband has been working as an OFW for ten years now and explained why did they choose Lumina Homes community as their home provider.

 “Yung husband ko po nagwo-work siya as an International Seafarer. So, magte-10 years na po sya as an OFW.”

(My husband has been working as an International Seafarer for ten years now.)

 “Lumina Homes po ang pinili naming mag-asawa kasi ito po yung unang house na gustong-gusto po talaga namin. Then, affordable po siya. Malapit po siya school, sa church, at sa Vista Mall. Then, at napaka-convenient po ng Lumina Homes sa amin.”

When she asked about her plans and wish for Christmas, she said:

“Since, hindi po makakauwi yung asawa ko ngayong Pasko, so, magce-celebrate na lang po ako kasama ang pamilya ko, then mga pamangkin ko, at yung alaga kong aso.”

(Since my husband can’t return home for Christmas this year, I plan to celebrate the holiday with my family, nephews, and pet dog.)

 “Ang wish ko po ngayong Pasko, sana iga-grant ni God yung wish naming mag-asawa na magiging complete family na kami. Na ma-bless na kami na magkaroon ng baby then to have a happily family po.”

(My wish this Christmas is I hope that God will grant my husband and I wish to have a child so that we can have already had a complete and happy family.)

She also shared with use her heartwarming message with her OFW husband.

“Message ko po sa aking husband, na sana bigyan siya ni Lord ng kalusugan at malayo sa mga kapahamakan, lalo na ngayong sitwasyon natin na nakakaranas tayo ng worldwide pandemic. So, mag-ingat siya palagi. I always pray for him. I love him and I miss him so much. So, God bless po.”

(My message to my husband is I pray that the Lord will always give him good health and protect him from danger, especially these times that we are all experiencing a global pandemic. I hope that he always takes care of himself and doesn’t forget to pray. I love and miss him so much. God bless.)
