You can find the Province of Bukidnon at the center of Mindanao Island in the southern part of the Philippines. Its vast plateau enables it to have an advanced agriculture-based economy. Some of the fresh products that can be found here are fruits and vegetables and products like:

It derives its name from the Visayan word “bukid” meaning “mountain,” predominantly having 915 meters elevation plateau of rolling grassland.

 

A quick trivia is that Bukidnon is the largest province in Region 10 and the 8th largest in the country in terms of land area. It comprises 20 municipalities, 2 component cities, and 464 barangays. Some of the mountain ranges that you can see in the province are:

Overview Nature and Culture Park

This is one of the most attractive and popular tourist destinations in Quezon, Bukidnon. The sightseeing here is breathtaking because of its captivating mountain view. The Overview Nature and Culture Park is located in Kipolot, Brgy. Palaopao, Quezon. 

 

Blue Water Cave

If you’re searching for some adventure like trekking and nature exploration, this underground water source that flows out to Pulangi River is the best place to be. 

 

The Blue Water Cave is located in Purok 17, San Jose—10 km from Poblacion.

 

White Rock Walls

Meanwhile, the White Rock Walls is also awaiting you in Purok 17, San Jose, for rock climber enthusiasts. This is made with solid limestone rock, ideal for rock climbing and rappelling.

 

Maramag, Bukidnon

It is one of the municipalities that can be found in the southernmost part of Bukidnon.

 

Musuan Peak

This features a panoramic view allowing and captivating the farmers as they enjoy the rich beauty of nature at its peak. Originally called Mt. Calayo, this is known to have erupted around 1886 or 1887.

Quadra Road Side Café 

This is a popular tambayan greatly adored by coffee lovers and very accessible since it is just along the National Highway.

 

Atungan Bridge

It is one of the highest bridges in the Philippines, where motorists regularly pass whenever they traverse the Cagayan de Oro-Bukidnon-Davao Route. Some people believe that you can make a wish while passing this bridge, but you have to hold your breath until you are able to reach the other end.

 

Panika

Panikas are usually worn by Higaynon women on their heads as a headdress while they are performing dance or footsteps that symbolizes unity and oneness, also known as Kag Sabewa called Dugso.

 

Paminahawa Ridge

This is a narrow hilltop that lets you witness the breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. With its elevation of 819 meters above sea level, or around 2,687 ft., some of the activities that you can do here are:

  • Camping (be well-prepared, though, especially at night as fog covers the area)

 

Rotypeaks Ridge Camp

This campsite will make you forget about your worries during your stay. You can be one with nature while enjoying the view and making new memories with your friend and loved ones here. It can also give you the best picturesque sceneries of the mountains. 

 

The Rotypeaks Ridge Camp is located in Dumalaguing Impasug-ong, Bukidnon.

 

Dahilayan Forest Park

Located in one of the progressive areas in Bukidnon, which is the Manolo Fortich, Dahilayan is one of the best places to experience the most fun and family-friendly activities in Bukidnon. It also offers a wide array of fun and activities that your whole family and friends will surely enjoy:

Aside from this, it is also the most populous inland or landlocked city in Mindanao. It is also the 3rd largest city in Northern Mindanao in terms of population after Cagayan de Oro and Iligan.

 

Valencia is the center of trade and commerce in Bukidnon since it is located at the center or the heart of Mindanao, allowing the city’s rapid economic growth. It is also popular because of its own produced rice called Valencia Rice.

 

Lake Apo

Located in a hilly area around 2, 100 ft in elevation and is just around 11 km away from Lumina Valencia.

 

It is a crater lake in Brgy. Guinoyoran was awarded as the Cleanest Inland Body of Water in the Northern Mindanao Region in the late 1990s. The green body of water has an area of 24 has with maximum depths reaching up to 85 ft.

Daru and Co. are located in Brgy. Barobo is just less than 30 mins drive from Lumina Valencia.

 

Salawao Cave

For outdoor activities with some exciting nature views, you can visit one of the finest and most well-maintained caves in Valencia, City. It features the fantastic formation of stalagmites and stalactites. One of its highlights is its waterfalls that can take all your worries away with its fresh flowing water.

 

Salawao Cave is located in Sitio Lawao, Concepcion, Valencia City, Bukidnon.

The steamed cake is a popular local delicacy here in Bukidnon. It is made of grated young corn with baking powder, powdered milk, and sugar mixed with water. The name Binaki is a bit unusual since baki means frog. They believe that it was tagged like that because the corn cake, when wrapped with corn husk, resembles a frog’s legs.

 

Hilltop Camp Bar

For the city lights view and stargazing, this is a great place to hang out with friends and family. You can enjoy here some bonfires, live acoustic band, barbecue and drinks while chilling in the cold and calm night.

 

Lumina Valencia

Malaybalay City

Tagged as the “South Summer Capital of the Philippines,” Malaybalay City is just less than an hour away from Valencia City. Compared to the rest of the country, Malaybalay has a moderate climate all year round, and the area is not at the typhoon belt. 

 

It is the 2nd most populous political subdivision in the province after Valencia City. 

 

Kaamulan Festival

It is also the venue for the Kaamulan Festival, which is held annually from mid-February to March 10 to celebrate the anniversary date of Bukidnon as a province in 1917. Aside from this, the festival is also a celebration of the culture and tradition of the seven ethnic tribal groups that initially inhabited the region. This is the only authentic ethnic festival in the Philippines.

 

Kaamulan comes from the Binukid word “Amul,” which means to gather and soon become the regional festival of Northern Mindanao.

Serves as an activity area, refuge and recollection, picnic, and other outdoor activities.

 

Folk Arts Theater

This is where some of the local activities and events are being held. It’s also a perfect place for people who love outdoor activities and exercises such as jogging and walking their pets at the park.

 

This is just 15 mins drive from Lumina Malaybalay.

 

Two Trees

It is a part of the provincial tree park of Bukidnon in which the northern entrance is at the Kaamulan Grounds, and its southern entrance is at Gawad Kalinga, also known as Capitol Village in Brgy. 9.

 

Monastery of Transfiguration

Are you pausing from the busy and loud activities of the city? You can relax your soul in the Monastery of Transfiguration located in San Jose Hill. This monastery is designed by National Artist for Architecture Leandro Locsin.

 

This is a top destination for pilgrims during the Holy Week in the Province of Bukidnon. The entrance is free, although the public is advised to keep quiet when visiting the place to maintain its holiness.

 

This is just 4km away from Lumina Malaybalay.

 

Mt. Capistrano

A famous location in World War II, it is characterized by its rock formations and crates. Nature trekkers and mountain climbers find its peak an excellent spot to see a vista of Bukidnon’s grandeur as it offers the mountain views and the vast area of rice and cornfields in the province.

 

This is just 18km away from the City of Malaybalay, located in Brgy. Managok.
