Also, prior to 1690, the church had already been moved three times. The current location was the third relocation that the church underwent.

Mahal na Poong Santa Krus (Holy Cross of Bauan) has been its patron since 1596. The hardwood used to craft the cross was Anubing, which was sourced from a forest in the religious center of Dingin, not far from the city of Alitagtag. It was widely believed that the Holy Cross of Bauan had miraculously shielded the community from several diseases and natural calamities.
