Cool Indoor Activities for Kids during Extreme Summer Heat

The summer season is here, and with it comes the heat and humidity that go with it. So, make sure to prepare your summer essentials, especially for your kids.

We all know that the key to keeping kids happy and occupied throughout the summer is to take advantage of the long, warm days by doing exciting things outdoors. Perhaps taking them to a nearby pool is the quickest and most straightforward approach to ensure their continued enjoyment. But still, there are many ways in which you can beat the heat while staying inside your house and lot in the Philippines!

Keep Your Kids Busy: Fun Things to Do Indoors When it's Too Hot Outside

It is too hot to spend all day outdoors now that the summer's hottest days have arrived in the country. As a result, the children are free to use their boundless amounts of energy in constructive ways especially if you already make an investment in an affordable house and lot.

Here are some tried-and-true kid-pleasing activities and games that won't take a lot of time or effort to organize inside your Lumina Homes. Most of these may also be adapted to suit the ages of your children, ensuring that your kids play an entertaining activity for long periods of time.

1. Make a bubble mixture and play with it.

The act of blowing bubbles is enchanting. Any time they make an appearance, it helps to put smiles and laughter on everyone's face.

Anyone, no matter their age, may enjoy the fun of playing with bubbles. Children of a younger age may enjoy playing with the bubbles you blow, while kids of a somewhat older range can compete to see who can make the largest bubbles.

If you want to make your own bubble solution with your kids without breaking the bank, all you need is dish soap and water!

2. Organize a chalk drawing activity.

Chalk sketching is a fun and creative way to spend time indoors.

Grab a box of chunky chalk and get ready to unleash your inner artist. A fun thing to do when using chalk to draw is to position an item on the chalkboard so that its shadow falls in the direction you want to draw. Give your kid a stick of chalk and tell them to sketch what they see in the shadow.

Once you are finished you can simply erase it and keep the chalkboard. Don't also forget to mop the area to make sure that there is no chalk dust left on the floor.

3. Set up an indoor obstacle course.

Do kids need to let out some pent-up energy? We know that board games won't satisfy that energy and it's not advisable to watch a local baseball game.

You can help them to stay active during hot weather while being at home by creating an indoor agility course for them to finish. You may make a laser maze by taping yarn back and forth across corridors, using sofa cushions or play dough as hurdles to leap over, and hanging keys from the ceiling for dodging.

In order to keep both their bodies and brains active, you may even have them create their own courses!

4. Try out some water beads.

Water beads, in case you haven't heard of them, are soft plastic spheres that are fun for kids to play as an alternative to kiddie pool with and maybe a calming pastime for adults, too. If you put them in a dish of water, they will expand over the course of many hours from small, hard beads into soft, spherical balls. The longer they spend in the water, the larger and more buoyant they get. This is a great alternative to an indoor ice skating rink.

Your children may play creatively with their small toys by plunging in headfirst or by exploring them with their hands via a scavenger hunt in a see-through storage container. Kids may put on their swimsuits and jump directly into a chilly water bead bath if the container is big enough. Just make sure to spread out some towels to collect the drips.

5. Let them do some early morning gardening.

Gardening is a great activity for people of all ages. Start a little garden or herb garden with the kids if you don't already have one. Get children involved in the process by letting them decide what plants to use. They'll be able to spend each day tending to their garden. The joy on their cheeks, when they harvest their own fruits and veggies, will be priceless.

Most of these things can still be done, even if the weather is quite hot if you go out early enough or wait until the afternoon. You can also invest in indoor plants at home. Equipped your kids with sunscreen, caps, and water before you begin your activity.

6. Create short films.

If your kids have a hidden ambition of becoming TikTok stars, this is a fantastic method to help them get started!

Whatever sparks their imagination, whether it is screenplay writing, improv, joke playing, recipe inventing using summer fruit, or dance choreography, is fair game. Then you can use editing software like VivaVideo or iMovie to splice together their footage into a single, shareable movie.

7. Schedule a movie marathon.

On a scorching hot day in the Philippines, nothing beats the old movie marathon activity inside an air-conditioned room. Provide your kids with a home theater experience. During the warmest part of the day, make some popcorn, hot dogs, cold drinks, or ice cream, and settle into an indoor picnic for a movie marathon as you cool down and relax.

8. Build an airfort.

Small children like nothing more than spending time in a safe and secure fort. The oppressive heat demands that they have access to something cooler.

At times like this, it's best to consider using an AirFort instead. The polyester material may be easily inflated into a large, floorless tent by hooking it up to a box fan. It's fantastic for an inside sleepover or pretend fort play.

9. Host summer painting activities.

During the sweltering summer months in the Philippines, you can keep your artistically-inclined children entertained with some fun summer painting projects you put together.

Ice Cube Painting

It's important to prepare ahead for certain kid-friendly water activities, but the payoff is well worth the effort.

Make ice cubes the night before using non-toxic washable paint or food coloring and water. Then, when they melt in the summer heat, your kids can become creative with them. It's a neat method to create a fresh t-shirt design or save some money on sidewalk chalk.

Water Gun Painting

For a pain-free summertime version of a water balloon fight, fill your children's water pistols with non-toxic washable paint. They may use white tees as canvases, a white sheet hung on the wall, or even a grid of paper spread out in a similar fashion to create a mural in sections when utilizing spray guns.

There are days when it's too hot for kids to play outdoors, even if they're wearing protective clothing. Your child may rather be indoors with the air conditioning on during these scorching days of summer.

Thankfully, there are now available affordable house and lot for sale all over the country that offer bigger living spaces and well-ventilated homes, perfect for the heat wave and hot days of the season.

With Lumina Homes, you can enjoy all these indoor activities comfortably inside the comforts of your cool home. Be smart and start investing now in a modern home suitable for the Philippines' hot humid weather!
