Infrastructure Projects in Rizal Set to Boost Provincial Progress
12 December 2022Infrastructure projects contribute massively to the country's economic growth. The Philippines loses billions due to traffic congestion annually, and infrastructure developments help to significantly mitigate these tremendous losses. What is more, infrastructure investment in provinces and cities near the capital region will decongest the latter, boosting provincial economic progress instead of focusing on the already overly congested Metro Manila.
Lumina Homes seeks to touch on the subject of infrastructure projects in the province of Rizal, strategically proximate to the country's epicenter of vast business and employment opportunities.
Proposed and Completed Infrastructure Projects in Rizal Province
Efficient means of transportation are a great advantage not only for the economies of provinces and cities that have them, but also for the actual people who live, work, and rely upon the conveniences of transportation infrastructure to go from one place to another, be it for work, leisure, and education.
The infrastructure projects in Rizal, both the completed ones and those still under the planning stage, will boost the province's economy, all the while making Metro Manila less clogged, so to speak. Let's check all these infra projects in Rizal below.
The Completed LRT-2 East Extension Project – Marikina And Antipolo Station
Part of the previous Duterte administration's Build, Build, Build (BBB) infrastructure program, LRT-2’s East Extension began operating in July 2021, extending 4 kilometers to the existing 13.8-kilometer route, as well as introducing Marikina and Antipolo stations. The LRT-2 East extension project's daily ridership capacity was boosted by 80,000 people and eased traffic congestion along the Marcos Highway, specifically in Marikina, Pasig, Antipolo City, and Cainta town in Rizal. This project is boasted to cut trip time from Recto to Antipolo City to about 40 minutes.
The Completed Ortigas Avenue Extension
The Ortigas Avenue is a 9.6-mile or 15.5-kilometer route connecting Eastern Metro Manila to the Western parts of Rizal. It stands as one of the capital's busiest and hectic highways, which acts as the main route of the Metro’s east-west corridor, and primarily caters to traffic coming from and toward Rizal province.
The highway's western terminus is at the boundary of Quezon City and San Juan. The highway then passes through Ortigas Center, a central business district along the bustling cities of Mandaluyong, Quezon City, and Pasig, which are followed by the burgeoning municipalities of Cainta, Taytay, and culminating in Antipolo City.
The Completed Marikina-Infanta Highway
Also known as Marilaque Highway among motorists, and formerly known as the Marcos Highway, Marilaque Road, and Marikina-Infanta Road, the Marikina-Infanta Highway is a 73-mile or 117.5-kilometer highway connecting the country's capital to Infanta town in Quezon province.
The Marikina-Infanta Highway functions as a physical extension of Aurora Boulevard, and which starts at the intersection of Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City, bordering Marikina. It first goes over Marikina Valley before the intersection to the Sumulong Highway at Antipolo City's Masinag Junction. After passing through Masinag, the route continues its ascent to the Sierra Madre mountain range, along the way traveling through Tanay in Rizal, Santa Maria in Laguna, the towns of Real, Quezon, and Infanta.
The Marilaque Highway is a boon to the logistics sector for the supply and demand chain, and a fun ride source for motorists who will get to see picturesque views along their journey and leisure attractions in proximity.
The Completed Laguna Lake Highway
Formally opened in November 2018, the Laguna Lake Highway, previously called the C-6 Road or Circumferential 6 Road, is a network of bridges and roads consisting of the 6th and outermost beltway of Metro Manila.
The completed road connects the Metro to neighboring provinces such as Bulacan in the north, Rizal province in the east, and Cavite in the south, and traverses through the cities of Pasig, Taguig, and Muntinlupa.
The infrastructure project is a four-lane road conceived along the shore of Laguna de Bay back in 2009. Seven years prior, the road project was proposed as the Taguig Road Dike running for 9.8 kilometers from the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to Rizal, as well as a flood control measure for the city. In February 2017, the road was broadened to four lanes, which is now known as the Laguna Lake Highway courtesy of DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways).
The Proposed MRT-4 Taytay, Rizal Station
The MRT Line 4 is a mass rapid transit line endorsed and approved for construction in Metro Manila and Rizal province. Upon the projected completion and full operation by 2028, Metro Rail Transit Line 4 will become Rizal’s second rapid transit line, after the LRT Line 2 Extension to Antipolo.
Naturally, the proposed MRT-4 Taytay Station is also projected to considerably ease the massive vehicular traffic problem along Ortigas Avenue, as well as improve and enhance connectivity in the eastern parts of the bustling metro, including neighboring towns in southwestern Rizal.
The proposed MRT 4 is a monorail system with 11 stations that will run along Nicanor Domingo Street, Ortigas Avenue, and Taytay Diversion Road, connecting suburban Taytay in Rizal to the Ortigas Center commercial hub in eastern Metro Manila. The proposal is gauged to cost ₱59.3 billion, with the Philippine government eyeing the funding through the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Take Advantage of Infrastructure Development, Take Residence in Lumina Homes Rizal
As a neighboring province of the bustling Metro Manila, the province of Rizal is gifted with proximity to the country's proverbial land of employment opportunities for people in the provinces looking to uplift themselves out of the wrath of poverty. Rizal residents and employees get to enjoy these opportunities, and the presence and development of infrastructure projects are their vehicle, literally and figuratively, to reach Manila without having to relocate there.
Rizal's proximity to the metro notwithstanding, Metro Manila is beset with overwhelming traffic, making a commute time of supposedly 15 minutes becoming an hour, rendering people rushing for work inadvertently tardy. But with the construction of and serious planning of more infrastructure projects, the people are in for a treat.
Lumina Homes have seen this enormous potential in the province of Rizal. Currently, Lumina Homes have housing communities in the flourishing municipalities of Pililia, Baras, and Binangonan. All of these communities are in proximity to various schools, places of worship, grocery stores, government offices, and transportation amenities for all residents.
What is more, transportation within the subdivision is also not a problem, owing to a shuttle service provided by Lumina Homes with pickup points for Lumina homeowners. For their collective safety, security measures are in place 24/7 with a gated entrance to discourage the entry of non-homeowners.
