Pag-IBIG Reaches P30-B Net Income in 2020
4 March 2021
Pag-IBIG Fund top executives announced last Wednesday, March 3, that it posted net income of over Php 30 billion in 2020 for the fourth consecutive year even with the economic slowdown brought by the pandemic.
Secretary Eduardo D. del Rosario, head of the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development and the Chairman of Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees, gladly reported that their net income reached Php 31.18 billion last year, marking the fourth consecutive year that Pag-IBIG Fund surpasses its Php 30-billion target net income. According to him, this shows that Pag-IBIG Fund remains strong even during the pandemic. This also shows that the Filipinos funds gained from their hard work are being managed properly by their agency. And as their support to President Rodrigo Duterte's call for government agencies in providing more social benefits to Filipinos, they decided to give back around 94% of their net income, which is Php 29.40 billion, to its members in the form of dividends.
According to del Rosario, they are required to declare at least 70% of their annual net income as per Pag-IBIG Fund's charter that must be credited proportionately to its members' savings. This year, Pag-IBIG approved to declare 93.68% of its earnings, which is the highest in the agency's history, to extend its members' most benefits in these challenging times.
Del Rosario also stated that through this, the year 2020 dividend rate for the Pag-IBIG Regular Savings will be at 5.62%, while for the Modified Pag-IBIG 2 (MP2) Savings will be at 6.12%. This means that members can now enjoy a higher-than-expected return from their Pag-IBIG Savings.
He also extended his gratitude to the borrowers who continue to pay their loans last year despite the abrupt economic slowdown. He said that the home loan payments reached Php 46.65 billion through their help, while the cash loan payments had a total of Php 56.17 billion in 2020. This enables the agency to remain in its strong fiscal position.
Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti of the Pag-IBIG Fund also expressed his appreciation to the borrowers for continuously honoring their loan obligations even amid trying times during the pandemic. With the strong financial standing of Pag-IBIG, they can continue providing their members home loans and cash loans, especially in this challenging economic period. He also cited that as the borrowers continue to fulfill their obligations, Pag-IBIG Fund can bring much-needed service to its members and contribute to stimulating the housing industry and the nation's economy.
Moti also added their assurance to their members and stakeholders that they will remain a reliable institution just like they did for the past 40 years as they bravely continue their services in the months ahead.
